Moving On

I used to move at the drop of a hat. It was like a big adventure for me. A new place to live, new surroundings, and lots of excitement. I could pack a house in 2 days and off I'd go.

I'm in the middle of getting ready to move to Utah on Saturday. I was going to rent a truck but when I found out the truck only got 6 miles to the gallon and it was going to cost almost $600 in fuel, I changed my mind. That would have been almost $1000 including the truck rental. I can buy a lot of good used stuff for that much money.

I've sold a few things, given lots away, and thrown away a little. Now it's down to sorting closets and deciding what to keep and what to donate. You'd be amazed at all the stuff that you keep thinking you're going to use it "someday". Then when you realize that you only have a minimum of room in the trunk of you car your perspective changes a lot!

As excited as I am for a totally new start, new job, new place to live, I've decided that I don't like to move anymore. It must be an age thing. Familiar is better to me now. But it's too late to turn back, so off I go to a new state. I promise to take pictures and update you on the move.

Now I'm off to go sort more closets!

How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, and girl this time you're all alone.

But it's time you started living. It's time you let someone else do some giving.

Love is all around, no need to waste it. You can never tell why don't you take it.

You're gonna make it after all!

Love you!

Though I've never been like you, in that I could move at the drop of a hat, it wasn't nearly as stressful to me when I was younger as it is now. The very thought of it now makes my brain start smoking. ;-)

I wish you all the best, and will say a prayer for you for strength, grace, and provisions as you take this big step.

How can you leave your kids and grandkids. I couldn't. You are so brave and courageous. Best of luck to you.

I'm taking one daughter with me. It is not going to be easy to leave my other daughter and my grandsons. It's going to be hard for her too. The longest we've ever lived in different places was 6 months when she went to live with her dad.

But I have to leave to find a job. I have a 14 year old daughter that I have to support. Thank you for your kind words - right now I don't feel very brave and courageous. And Friday, when I have to say goodbye, I know I won't be courageous.

Hi, Best wishes on your move.
I will come back and enter for a soap drawing in future, once you are settled in.
I heard about your blog at Cottage in the Making. About once a month I review a book by a Christian author, given to me by the publisher, and give it away on my blog.
I do love well crafted soaps.
I admire your courage in making this move. My favorite Bible verse, that I keep in my purse, is Psalm 91:1-12. "He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
